My Story Dia de los Muertos ~ Day of the Dead is officially out to buy as a single story on Amazon and Smashbox! Click on my new cover of the story and it will take you to amazon to get your copy today. Only .99 cents! I’m in love with the cover Katrina Gillian did for me!edit5
Thought I’d come back to this story since my story just released and it’s out all by itself!
Dead body that came into the morgue is not only drained of all his blood but also has bite marks on his neck. Valentina and Detective Brown wished this was fake but too bad it’s not. Things are definitely getting weird in this little town of Maple.

“What did this?” she asked with curiosity.

“You mean who did this?

“Wait. What? ” She looked up and met the detective’s gaze.

“We have the guy upstairs. We found him with the body with blood all over his face. We’re assuming he’s the one who did this. Thought you could take a look at his teeth and the marks on the body to verify it. We also need to know if this person was dead before the guy started well…eating him. Is it murder or do we need to have psych evaluation.”

  2. Frank Fisher says:

I agree with Valentina’s question of “What did this?” After reading about those marks, it looks like it was a thing that inflicted those marks. I’m intrigued to know what or who did this. Great snippet, and I love cover!

    1. Cecilia Corona says:

Thank you. I’m still love just admiring the cover. Lol

  3. Rian says:

Oh, I so want to know what happens next. I am really tempted to go for this book. El Dia de los muertos is one of my most inspiring traditions anyway. Too bad I am still heaped up with to-read books. I guess I will keep to the Sunday treat for now 🙂 Great snippet!

    1. Cecilia Corona says:

Yes please keep tuning in. This is actually a short story no more than 10 thousand words. So if you have about and hour you can blow through this bad boy. Lol

  4. hmm– snacking on the body before or after—I think this guy needs a psych evaluation no matter what. lol Great snippet. Love the new look of your website.

    1. Cecilia Corona says:

Ain’t that the truth. Thank you. Im totally digging the new look too.

  5. P.T. Wyant says:

“Is it murder or do we need to have psych evaluation.”
    Or both?
    Fun snippet.

    1. Cecilia Corona says:

      Thanks!

    2. Cecilia Corona says:

      Thanks so much

  6. Eden Mabee says:

I like how you didn’t play it as a vampire thing (even if it is, allow us a bit more mystery). And the dialogue is wonderful. (So is teh website! Amazing!

    1. Cecilia Corona says:

Thanks you so much. I love to hear this kind of feedback.

  7. Blood all over his face? I’d give him a psych eval even if he did kill the corpse!

    1. Cecilia Corona says:

      Right?! Me too!

  8. Love the site. You’ve changed it, right? The dialogue is great.

    1. Cecilia Corona says:

      Yes I did. Thank you!

  9. The cover is GREAT! Enjoyed the snippet – I certainly wasn’t expecting them to have caught the guy already (or some guy anyway). I like the element of mystery here.

    1. Cecilia Corona says:

Thank you. There definitely is more to come.

  10. Jeff Tsuruoka says:

Hmmm. This is starting to take on an X-Files-like vibe, which, in my humble opinion, is a very good thing. It’s hard to walk that line between fantastical and plausibility. You’re walking it well.

    1. Cecilia Corona says:

Omg that is an amazing compliment thank you so much!

  11. Daelyn says:

Psych evaluation? Or murder? Hmmm… I don’t think it’s a psych evaluation they’re going to need.
    Great snippet!

This is totally off topic for snippets, too. But I love the picture and cover you have for your blog. I love this setup.

    1. Cecilia Corona says:

      Thank you!!!

  12. Oh my! It’s like asking: “Tell me if we have caught a vampire or if it’s only a cannibalism coupled with necrophilia issue?” I wonder which would be worse. And it can even be both!
    This is getting so intense!

    1. Cecilia Corona says:

      Keep hanging in there. Lol
