Snippet Sunday: At First Snowfall #snippetsunday #SPeekSunday #8Sunday

Welcome Back Everyone!

Today is Snippet #4 from my newly published story! I’m so excited to have you read it!

Today I’ll be sharing a snippet from my newly published story At First Snowfall.

I thought I would take a break from my Dia de los Muertos ~ Day of the Dead and show you a glimpse into my new story for Christmas time. Hope you enjoy the snippet.
I went over just a bit for the 8 sentence limit so you could get the full effect.

Last we left off meeting Prince Alexander and his wife at the festival where they are celebrating the birth of their son, Jayce. This scene takes place later that night after the party is winding down.

*****

Later in the evening, when the party was coming to an end, she wandered through the garden nearest the castle wall and ran into Prince Alexander. The scent of lilacs and musk tickled her nose.

“I’m sorry, I didn’t…” she stuttered. “I’ll be on my way.” She bowed and backed away.

“No, don’t go,” he said and he raised his hand, beseeching her not to retreat. Truly, they should not be alone, but something in his eyes stopped her.

They talked all night and she never would have guessed he was unhappy, but he bared his soul to her.

They bonded so easily as if they’d known each other forever. Many times after that first night, they met there in the garden after nightfall.

They talked most nights, but then there were nights where they did not talk at all. Which was why she found herself in this predicament.

*****

So to hear the Prince was unhappy with his Princess, but why was he so unhappy? Does that mean its OK for him to be with another women? Find out more next Sunday for the next installment of my snippet from At First Snowfall.

I’m a bit confused, why shouldn’t she be there if they talk most nights. which predicament is she in?

    1. Cecilia Corona says:

So in the past snippets Adelaide is at the festival watching Alexander and Victoria enjoy their newborn son. Now in this snippet she then that evening she runs into the prince and they are now having this affair and pregnant with his baby.

      1. Iris says:

Ahhh, Ok, I’m back on track with the story …. 🙂

        1. Cecilia Corona says:

          Yay! Thanks for stopping by.

  2. When I read your comment above, I understood the snippet better. You may need to put a “had” in there somewhere to indicate the affair has already happened. Like: Many times after that first night, they had met in the garden after nightfall.

    1. Cecilia Corona says:

Thanks for the input. Definitely will keep that in mind.

  3. Oh, what a tangled mess it all is! It’s very hard to empathize with her…with the limited amount of information we have so far.

Putting on my moderator’s cap now. We try to treat everyone fairly. In doing so, we have to ask that participants stick to 8 sentences. For a long excerpt such as this, you might be able to split it up over a two week period.

I’ll be back again. Your story has me intrigued. I’m curious if you manage to redeem Adelaide in the eyes of the reader. 🙂

    1. Cecilia Corona says:

Shouldn’t have to wait to long to have her redeemed in the viewers eyes. Should see something soon. Thanks for stopping by.

  4. Interesting. I would like to know more about their conversations. 🙂

  5. P.T. Wyant says:

That not talking can get you into all kinds of trouble…

    1. Cecilia Corona says:

      Oh boy can it.

  6. Sarah W says:

I can’t wait to see how the Prince will be redeemed — if that’s the plan? He’s the one cheating, right? Unhappiness shouldn’t be an excuse, even for royals.

    Maybe her happiness lies elsewhere?

    1. Cecilia Corona says:

Yes he is the one cheating. Can’t wait to share more.

  7. Frank Fisher says:

I get a sense of the affair between them. It’s very engaging and the story must be a real page-turner. Very good snippet!

    1. Cecilia Corona says:

      Thank you.

    1. Cecilia Corona says:

You soon will find out everything. Thanks for tuning in.

  11. Gem Sivad says:

My imagination filled in a lot of “not talking” time. 😀 Great snippet.

      Thanks. Tune in next week.

  14. This story is intriguing since so far I’m not exactly a fan of either character (which just shows what a good job you’ve done in creating them and their world). So I’m assuming new facts are going to arise that will give us insights into all of this! Fascinating excerpt though…

    1. Cecilia Corona says:

Yes once the facts roll in they won’t be looking to bad in your eyes anymore. Thank you for stopping by.

  15. Love it, his attitude intrigues me. 🙂 Great eight.

    1. Cecilia Corona says:

      Thanks.

  16. EE Giorgi says:

this is beautiful, so much so that I want to know more of what he told her… I hope that’s revealed somewhere else in the story 🙂

    1. Cecilia Corona says:

Oh yes. More to come soon.

  17. I’m not liking the prince at this moment, but something tells me there’s more to this story.
