We last left off with Mauricio calling out Mara’s full name and now she’s remembering how she met him and how he left her.

They both met in college, but he hadn’t been a student. He just happened to be looking around the campus the day they quite literally ran into each other.

They’d been inseparable for a time. At one point, they even talked about marriage. Then one day he was gone. He broke her heart.

She’d been with men before and she’d been through heartache but never like this. She and Mauricio had a connection she’d never felt before with anyone.

It was like he was the other half of her soul. When they were together she felt complete. When he just disappeared without a word, she’d been devastated.

Only working to open the cafe had kept her sane.

“Xiomara,” he said her name again.

Find out what happens next week for snippet #30 of my paranormal romance At first Snowfall.

Tune in next week to see what else is going on in this little town of Maple.

  1. P.T. Wyant says:

Intriguing. Nice bit of backstory that makes me wonder why he disappeared and why he’s back.

    1. Cecilia Corona says:

Thank you. You definitely will be surprised when you find out why?

  2. Karysa Faire says:

Wow. How the hell is he going to come back from that? There better be an amazingly awesome excuse!

    1. Cecilia Corona says:

Right. Well he does. Just not what you think

  5. A very intense snippet, I felt so badly for her, as regards the suffering when he left!

    1. Cecilia Corona says:

Im glad I was able to get that point across. Thank you.

  6. Jeff Tsuruoka says:

This is unfolding nicely, with lots of intriguing questions that I’m sure have equally intriguing answers.

    1. Cecilia Corona says:

      Oh boy yes. Just wait.

    1. Cecilia Corona says:

Right!? Oh he will but it definitely wont be what you’d expect.

  8. Ouch… Leaving with no explanation or warning. He better have a good reason one, or I get the feeling someone might be slapped across the face. I’m very curious to see what happened then and what will happen now. Great snippet!

    1. Cecilia Corona says:

Funny you say slap across the face because thats just the thing she wants to do lol.
