Reading Corner Friday ~ The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones

Hello everyone and welcome back to Reading Corner Friday.

Today I am happy to share a favorite of mine. This series is so thought out and has you always wanting more page after page. The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones by Cassandra Clare.

Just the right amount of action, love and fantasy. The Mortal Instruments is fa-nominal. After every book she leaves you sitting there with your mouth open, drool coming out of your mouth crazy.

The Mortal Instruments series follows the life of Clary Fray who is no ordinary mundane, she in fact is a Shadowhunter. Shadowhunters are a group of humans with angels blood. They can move fast, crazy amazing fighters and very strong. They help keep the mundanes safe from all the downworlders; vampires, werewolves, faeries etc.

She meets three shadow hunters at a club and she gets and eye full of some other worlder stuff and freaks out!

Jace, Alec and Izzy are around Clary’s age and they follow her throughout all 6 books along with Clary’s best friend Simon.

This book would be considered young adult but I say its fun for all ages. The Mortal instruments went on to be a movie a few years but but didn’t quite make the hype they thought it would. Fortunately fast forward to this year, it got picked up for a TV show on FreeForm and its called Shadowhunters, not only was it a hit TV show it was picked up for a season two!!!

This show is well planned out and well written. It follows the book every so slightly but the changes they make really open the world of Shadowhunters up. If you enjoy the book start watching the show on FreeForm. you will love it. rs_1024x691-151120131342-1024.shadow-hunters-freeform.ch.1112015

Clary Fray’s search for her missing mother leads her into an alternate New York called Downworld, filled with mysterious faeries, hard-partying warlocks, not-what-they-seem vampires, an army of werewolves, and the demons who want to destroy it all. She also finds herself torn between two boys—her best friend, Simon, for whom she’s developing new feelings, and the mysterious Shadowhunter, Jace. She becomes a part of the secret world of the Shadowhunters and as she does, she discovers that rescuing her mother might mean jeopardizing everything the Shadowhunters work for.

  1. Love this series of books. Also loved The Infernal Devices- Prequel series to The Mortal Instruments.

I’m also enjoying the TV series though it seems more ‘teen-ish’ than I thought the books were. I have to agree- it’s a story for all ages. Very enjoyable. The movie was entertaining so I’d recommend it too. 🙂

I’ve only read the first to the 3 prequels. Enjoyed it very much so. She even has novellas for the Shadowhunter academy that follows Simon’s story.
