Reading Corner Friday ~ The Haunting of Sunshine Girl by Paige McKenzie

Hola everyone!

Sorry for the delay in posting a review for Reading Corner Friday. I have been sick with the flu and really needed some down time to recoup. Now that I am all better I would love to share with you something new.

The Haunting of Sunshine Girl. This book by Paige McKenzie is not only spooky but really well thought out and original. Let me start from the beginning and tell you a little back story about the author and how this book came about.

Paige McKenzie aka Sunshine, made a YouTube page that was dedicated to her filming what she thought was a ghost in her home. This web series is not only spooky at times but also super fun. The Haunting of Sunshine web series is still going on now as I’m typing here. lol.  She goes on so many adventures not just with her mom Kat, but with tons of important characters along the way.

My sister was kind enough to get me so addicted to this web series. I am 28 years old and I can honestly say I can only watch her episodes in the day time. Yes I’m serious. This show is so good, and has the spook factor I love. It isn’t too much but it’s just enough to keep you wanting to come back and watch more.

She also has two movies that I know of you can buy through one of her websites, the money goes towards helping her make more videos and possibly more movies! Fingers crossed on all of the above.

I seriously can’t tell you how much I really enjoy not only the web series but the two books she has brought out so far that is based on the web series. She also just announced the third installment is coming next spring!!! Woo Hoo!! Rumor has it too that it’s being shopped around for a tv show!

So back to the book. Sunshine moves from her home in Austin Texas, to a town that is polar opposite of nice sunny Texas. Ridgemont, Washington. In this story we know that Sunshine is adopted and that she has no clue who her biological parents are and she frankly doesn’t care to know. Her mom Kat is all she needs.

When Sunshine and her mom move into thier new home, creepy things start to happen around the house. Sunshine soon comes to realize that not only is her house haunted with a friendly ghost, there is a not so friendly one lingering there too and her mom and herself are in danger.

She meets a friend Nolan on the way and their friendship is one of those rare ones. He becomes so much more than just a friend to Sunshine. Sunshine finds out along the way she is no ordinary human. She is something called a Luiseach. I don’t want to go any farther. You must read this book and when your down you must read the second one. I will do a review on that one next Friday.

Down below you will find links to all her social media accounts, the page to buy her book. Just look below everything you need to become a big fan is below.

Shortly after her sixteenth birthday, Sunshine Griffith and her mother Kat move from sunny Austin, Texas, to the rain-drenched town of Ridgemont, Washington. Though Sunshine is adopted, she and her mother have always been close, sharing a special bond filled with laughter and inside jokes. But from the moment they arrive, Sunshine feels her world darken with an eeriness she cannot place. And even if Kat doesn’t recognize it, Sunshine knows that something about their new house is just … creepy.

In the days that follow, things only get stranger. Sunshine is followed around the house by an icy breeze, phantom wind slams her bedroom door shut, and eventually, the laughter Sunshine hears on her first night evolves into sobs. She can hardly believe it, but as the spirits haunting her house become more frightening—and it becomes clear that Kat is in danger—Sunshine must accept what she is, pass the test before her, and save her mother from a fate worse than death.
