Good afternoon followers, I hope your holiday was amazing. I still am stuffed from all the turkey and ham.
I wanted to share with you a little bit about what inspired me to write my story Dia de los Muertos ~ Day of the Dead. I have always loved the whole concept of the holiday Dia de los Meurtos, along with the vibrant colors of the traditional garments they wear to the makeup they put on their faces. It wasn’t until I was older that I really got into actually celebrating the holiday itself. When my mom asked if I wanted to write a novella (mini story) for the Autumn Anthology at her publishing company, I jumped on it. I knew that I wanted to write a story about Dia de los Muertos. Though my story is loosely based around the holiday, my main character Valentina loves the holiday and talks about it in the story.
The Day of the Dead takes on a new meaning, when the dead don’t stay dead. Dr. Valentina Bellmonte, a cancer survivor, is the new coroner at Hope Memorial. Her faith is put to the test when a body arrives at the morgue drained of blood and the man responsible for the crime is sporting fangs. Could vampires be real?
Her good friend, Dr. Xander Carlisle seems to know the truth, but he’s unwilling to confide in her. He has a secret of his own and it’s not just how he feels about her, but something else entirely, something he’s forbidden to reveal.
