***note this snippet is to fit a 8-10 sentence limit***

Queen Victoria sent him to find Xiomara and Adelaide a little over a year ago. He was a guard at the castle. He took his duty to the Queen and the kingdom very seriously, but when he met Xiomara, it had been electric, a soul connection not easily found.

Queen Victoria claimed Xiomara and Adelaide wanted to kill her and the King so they could take over the kingdom. Mauricio didn’t know how a mortal could manage such a feat, let alone know how to activate a portal, but he had trusted the Queen and King.

Mauricio would have carried out his duty without a thought. He would have run his dagger into Xiomara and her mother, and not lost any sleep over it, but the day he ran into her at the college campus, he knew he loved her. The connection flashed with a jolt. The woman was his soul mate.
